We had our second Doctors in Training evening for 2024 on Wednesday 19 June 2024 at the Winterford Room at the  Regatta Hotel, a lovely venue that we hadn’t previously used for a BLMA event.

We had drinks and mingling from 6.30pm followed by Dr Philip Hall entertaining us during his presentation about some of his research and work with several 3-D Matrix products.

Although the evening was fully subscribed, the DiT members who unfortunately couldn’t make it on the night missed a fabulous session on Interview Tips and Tricks from our panel of experts. Ms Anita Fletcher, Medical Career Coach presented via Zoom from Sydney, followed up by insightful talks from Dr Janet Draper, BLMA Committee member and RANZCOG interviewer, Dr Hashim Abdeem, newly fellowed Rheumatologist and Medical Administration trainee and Chair of the Federal AMA Council of Doctors in Training and Dr Ira van der Steenstraten, Psychiatrist and Life Coach and Immediate Past President of the QMWS. They provided perspectives from the Interviewer, the Interviewee, and how to cope with the stress of interviews, followed up by an extensive question and answer session.

As always, it was an extremely collegial event (and a few members even remembered the “on Wednesdays we wear pink” theme ) and we welcomed our newest, youngest and most popular DiT member of the evening who was already learning how to snuggle up to the BLMA Committee

The Regatta Hotel provided us with a lovely alternate drop 3 course dinner.

And last but certainly not least, a huge shout out to our MC for the evening, Dr Bruce Wang, one of our 3 DiT representatives on our BLMA Committee who did an excellent job on his first time hosting one of our events
